A logo that works where your customers see it

For a local business, the logo has to work far beyond the website. Before we design, we ask where it will appear, then test the concepts at those sizes:

  • Storefront signs and window graphics, where it has to read from across the street.
  • Vehicle wraps and magnets for contractors and mobile services, where it's seen at a glance in traffic.
  • Uniforms, hats and embroidery, which need simple shapes and a limited number of colors.
  • Your Google Business Profile, social profiles and favicon, where it's shown as a tiny square or circle.
  • Menus, flyers, yard signs and business cards.

That's why every logo package includes all file formats, and why we check that each concept still reads when it's shrunk down to a small icon.

Our logo design process

  1. Brief. Your business, customers, competitors, the places the logo will be used, and styles you like and dislike.
  2. Concepts. Distinct logo directions, each checked at the sizes and in the places you told us it will be used.
  3. Refine. You choose a direction and we refine it through the revision rounds in your package.
  4. Final files. Your logo in all file formats, including vector files for signs and print and PNG files for the web.
  5. Brand Kit and Full Identity extras. Color palette and fonts, social kit and business card (Brand Kit), or full guidelines, stationery, templates and brand mockups (Full Identity).

Before you finalize a new business name or logo

This isn't legal advice, but two practical steps help Bay Area businesses avoid problems later:

  • File a fictitious business name (DBA) if you need one. In California, if you trade under a name that isn't your legal name, you generally file a fictitious business name statement with your county clerk. For Richmond and the rest of Contra Costa County, that's the Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorder; Alameda County and San Francisco have their own county offices.
  • Check for conflicts. Search the USPTO's trademark database and the California Secretary of State's records for similar names and marks in your industry before you print signs. For trademark registration, talk to a trademark attorney. The US Copyright Office has also said that material generated purely by AI, without enough human authorship, isn't eligible for copyright protection, so be careful with logos made entirely by AI generators.
